Jun 30, 2010, 9:43 pm Early reports are saying that we have 3 new Ironmen / women and 3 repeat offenders in the club after some succesful attempts in Ironman France and the Forestman Iron Distance race. Confirmation and hopefully some race details will be supplied as soon as available by the athletes. Currently we only have photographs of the supporters.

The Penrith Triathlon is a BTF registered sprint event, now in its third year, staged on the edge of the Lake District on bank holiday Sunday 29 August by Eden District Council and Arragon’s Cumbrian Tri Club. Having been billed as a beginner’s event in its first year, last year’s second running saw the event attract a range of competitors from absolute beginners to some high class athletes. The course (particularly the undulating bike!!) provides a challenge to all levels of athlete, or non-athlete. The course comprises of:
The event will utilise chip timing, secure and numbered transition on an astro turf pitch with the route being comprehensively signed and marshalled at all corners and junctions. The Chairman and Event secretary have chosen 10 triathlons that will count toward this years championship. The events are as follows:- Kendal Sprint Triathlon 24/04/2010 Keswick Mountain Festival (Long Course) 23/05/2010 Coniston Standard Distance 05/06/2010 Cockermouth Triathlon (1) 13/06/2010 A Day in the Lakes 27/06/2010 Wensleydale Triathlon 08/08/2010 Lakeland Triathlon 14/08/2010 Penrith Triathlon 29/08/2010 Helvellyn Triathlon 05/09/2010 Cockermouth (2) 05/09/2010 Points will be awarded on the finish position of ACTC members competing, for example, 1st ACTC member 25 points 2nd ACTC member 24 points and so on for every member who takes part. On the 2nd May 2010 your Club Chairman Phil Graham and three Penrith cyclist/triathletes are cycling from John O Groats to Lands End. Starting with 80 miles and then continuing with 150 mile days until Lands End is reached.
The cycle is in aid of the Great North Air Ambulance and it is hoped to raise as much as possible for the life saving helicopter. Apr 16, 2010, 8:58 pm The first Arragaon's Cumbrian Tri Club Swim Gala was held on the 3rd April at Penrith Leisure Centre. The four Cumbrian Tri clubs were all represented with teams from Kudu Tri Club, Tri Lakeland and Carlisle Tri Club all taking part. The event was the brainchild of James Douglas who put a huge effort in organising the whole evening. It was agreed by all that it was a huge success and should now be an annual meet. The winners were Kudu Tri club with Tri Lakeland second, Carlisle Tri club third and ACTC in foutrh. Full results are in the Race Results 2010. |
