Early draft of things to do this season ACTC Year planner 2010
Nov 22, 2009, 9:37 pm ACTC Group Winter Training Camp
Stuart has been thinking about some warm weather training pre season 2010. He has checked out the brand new training facility as advertised in 220 on Majorca. Have a look for yourselves at http://www.bestswimcentre.com/
Stuart is planning to go week com 22 March 2010 if anyone else has similar thoughts, how about getting a club training camp going?
There is a lot to be gained from a weeks dedicated training (and still have some time for some chillout holiday) especially where the cycling is excellent the swimming looks spot on and they tell me there are several run routes, trails, pine woods, beaches etc. Sounds ideal and we could be trailblazers for a new top training camp. If there is enough interest he is keen to plan and lead a camp or just go along and do our own thing. If not Stuart may still go and test it out, as can anyone else.
Please respond if you are interested ASAP and I can start the ball rolling. They need to know numbers and what we want to put a package together.
Either let Sarah know your interest ("soon") or me direct on 07977914177
Cheers Stuart Oct 25, 2009, 5:43 pm http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkKs7QosHSo Have a look at this all. 2 or 3 interesting things. 1 Quite a good demo of tumble turns. 2 I think the guy is wearing neoprene training shorts, Ive mentioned it to one or two of you heavy legged runner/cyclist types but have not seen any turn up yet. If you struggle with low legs they can only help you get into a better swim position to concentrate on stroke improvement and training. 3 His swim technique is not bad either! Sep 7, 2009, 1:58 pm
Looking ahead to 2010 Ok folks its nearly all over I hope you had fun racing in 2009 some of you for the 1st time some for personal challenges some just for the crack. What I’ve heard and seen there have been many positive experiences. Time to start planning for 2010. Don’t rest on your bony laurels. Autumn, once you’ve got your last races done is a good time to both have a rest (take some time off but not too much) and play around with your late season fitness i.e. trail races, xc, 10k, 1/2m, reliability ride, fell or mountain bike race etc , in any order what ever fits best for you. But don’t forget to rest and don’t forget to start again. Take stock of what you’ve achieved this year and plan for next, decide what you’d like to attempt to conquer then start working towards it. Its deliberate consistent training that will pay dividends. Some thoughts for all whether your going short or long next year the winter is when you need to get some good solid base work in. Including :- Long steady rides. Long steady runs. Technique and conditioning work in the pool Some strength training if you need it But a variety of other work also. On the long ride front how about a monthly long ride say on a Saturday after swimming possibly 1st one in Oct like our end of season one last year but perhaps in various different speed groups. If anyone is up for a mid winter challenge the Cumbrian Christmas cracker is on the 13th Dec. Some of you have done it and enjoyed it I know. Good crack to do in small groups (speak to each other) It would be good to get a small team together and have a bash at setting best time. I got it 2 years ago but was beaten by two 2 ups last year. If anyone fancies it give me a shout. Happy Swimming, Cycling, running, lifting and wintering Stuart |
